Democratization and Massification of Higher Education in Turkey and Challenges Ahead
A Presentation by Bekir S. Gür, PhD
Join us as the Center for Studies in Higher Education (CSHE) kicks off its Global Higher Education Seminar Series with a presentation by Bekir Gür, a Turkish Academic and post-doctoral visiting scholar, who is writing a comparative study of American and Turkish higher education. In his presentation, "Democratization and Massification of Higher Education in Turkey and Challenges Ahead," Mr. Gür will discuss current challenges related to access, quality, and democratization of education in Turkey.
Bekir Gür is currently a visiting scholar at the University of California, Berkeley. He holds an Assistant Professor position at Yıldırım Beyazıt University, in Ankara. He has been an advisor to the Board of Higher Education (YÖK) of Turkey; Ddirector of educational policy research at SETA Foundation, an Ankara-based think tank; and a columnist for the Star Daily, a high-circulation Turkish newspaper.
