Queering Science: Rethinking Biology, Sex, & Environment
A public panel discussion on queer and feminist theory and practice in science.
Matrix is located on the 8th floor of Barrows Hall, on the UC Berkeley campus, near Telegraph and Bancroft Avenues, just up the hill from Sather Gate. There are entrances at both ends of the building, but only one of the elevators on the eastern side goes directly to the 8th floor. You can alternatively take the stairs to the 7th floor and walk up the stairs.

The Matrix Prospecting Team entitled Queer Ecologies: Constructions of Gender and Sexuality in Animal Behavior Sciences will be hosting its first public event. This panel discussion will feature scientists in the life sciences who are working on critical research to push their fields in new directions. The panel will focus on scholarly contributions to upend histories of heterosexism, biological determinism, and environmental injustice. Panelists include:
- Erin Giglio, PhD Candidate, at University of Texas, Austin.
- Ambika Kamath, PhD, Post-Doctoral Fellow at University of California, Berkeley.
- Max Lambert, PhD, Post-Doctoral Fellow at University of California, Berkeley.
- Sarick Matzen, PhD Candidate, at University of California, Berkeley.
- Caitlin McDonough, PhD Candidate, at Syracuse University.
- Julia Monk, PhD Candidate, at Yale University
