Program Assistant

Social Science Matrix is seeking an advanced social science graduate student to be a program assistant.

Our events seek to draw on the breadth and depth of research expertise within and beyond the Social Sciences Division, examining important  topics and ideas that are reforming the contours of social science research today. This Spring semester, all programming will be online only, and the program assistant will work remotely.

We seek a graduate student to help develop, organize, and publicize some of our public events and programs, including our annual call for proposals for Matrix Research Teams

Common duties include:

  • Help distribute summaries and other program materials to Matrix staff and collaborators
  • Assisting in the scheduling of Zoom webinars for our Spring events
  • Publicizing events and programs, particularly to departments and research units across campus

The student should:

  • Be able to communicate with faculty and staff across campus, as well as at other universities and institutions
  • Work well with others
  • Have working knowledge of common campus-specific and other computer application programs
  • Have solid organizational and writing skills
  • Be able to multitask with demanding timelines
  • Have an educational background in the social sciences and be passionate about advancing cross-disciplinary inquiry

The student may also collaborate with and conduct interviews of researchers to produce brief articles or podcasts about social science research.

Please apply with a resume/CV and two short writing samples that summarize some kind of social science research.
